1989 FF 'Proof' pops up on eBay
Always excited to see something so rare and FF related become available. EBay has one of the FF Proofs listed. Item 381493091121
While the seller lists it as '1/1' etc, it isn't but rare nonetheless. What is it? It is a third of a 'missing color' or 'progressive proof' set. To date, I've seen maybe 3 of these exact FF proofs. 3 full FF proof sets actually. Not 1/1, but very rare.
Where did it come from? Probably either smuggled out of the factory by an employee or found in a nearby dumpster - discarded trash. Probably cut from a full sheet.
I believe it sold for around $300.

Cheap Scribble Pickup
Edit from April 2025: After comparing scans from this card in 2015 to 2025 - I'm now convinced that this 'fuzzy or blurry' No F scribble isn't a oddity after all. I think it was simply a dirty scanner bed. I didn't wipe the glass clean very often. I'm assuming it's smudge that is obscuring the image. Put a lot of work into analyzing this $1.50 card!
Also - after further review - I never noticed that it appears that every No F scribble card shares the same yellow ink offsets. Never noticed....
Picked this up for $1.50. 'No F' Scribble, but the airbrushed F is fuzzy or blurry. Worth $1.50 to check it out. Pictures show the card and a comparison with a 'normal' 'No F' card. The card also has a decent yellow color shift on it throughout.
